my first footy: The Community Cup

Sunday I went to my first Aussie rules football match - ever! And it was even for a good cause: The Community Cup! Megahertz, a team of radio makers plays a team made of various Rockstars, called Rockdogs. All of them are extremely pale, beer-bellied and usually better at watching and commenting than actually playing football.
But the whole thing is a big family event, held annually to support some charitable organisation, this year it was reclink , an organisation that supports disadvantaged members of our community with arts and sports programmes.
What can I say, the beer was cheap, the sausages from the sizzle quite disgusting and the game a little bit hard to follow due to the immense size of the field, my bad eyesight and the lack of a close-up camera coverage. But it was fun anyway and I have been promised that proper AFL footy is totally different.

Of course, no Melbourne Event, especially not with radio and music makers involved without the fair portion of live music. Since we got there quite late, we missed the first band, but the second, Dollsquad, were superb Rock'n'Roll.
